Wrapping Up the Year

This evening I was looking at my friend Lisa’s blog and realized I have not posted a blog in over 2 MONTHS!! So I decide before the New Year hits I am going to update everyone on the past few major events in our lives. Also I am going to make it a goal in this next year to at least put up one post a month, I just need to give myself the time.

We have had an incredibly busy few months I left off at the beginning off fall so I will start there. October was Lily’s first Halloween, we spent the day at Auntie Sarah’s decorating the house and making spooky treats, then in the evening we got little Lily dressed in her bumble bee costume and took her out for an early stroll around the block. My dad spent the entire week before Halloween looking for a suitable trick or treat wagon and delivered it just an hour before we were to go out for the evening; he was overjoyed that Lily was so excited and after they did a few practice rides in the living room/kitchen we all took off on our walk. She loved seeing the other kids in their costumes and was mesmerized by the spooky decorated houses. One block into our stroll, mixed with the sound of the laughing kids, we heard a loud clanking sound. Then realized Anthony was pulling a wagon handle with no wagon attached. The handle and the front wheels had fallen off and Lily was left in the dirt. Since Lily was a little confused about the whole night she just thought it was supposed to happen and didn’t even cry. My dad felt so bad, especially because we all laughed so hard. We spent the rest of the evening handing out candy and admiring all of the fancy costumes. It will definitely be a first Halloween to remember.

Around the same week as Halloween Anthony and I found a house we really liked that was for sale and decided we wanted to make it our home. We are so excited to move in and raise our kids there. Although we are still in the escrow process, I will be sure to post some photos when we finally move in!

As most of November blew by in a blink of an eye it brings me to Thanksgiving. We enjoyed a fantastic feast at my Aunt Linda and Uncle Louis’s home in Phoenix. There was about 50 family and friends to celebrate with. This year was full of blessings for our family, with so many things to be thankful for it was a perfect gathering to honor the year.

Not many photos were taken at Thanksgiving!

Speaking of blessings - the day before Thanksgiving we had an ultrasound done to check out baby Salari #2 and are thrilled to announce we are having a BOY! More to come on our little guy, but as of now he seem quite healthy and growing when looking at my waist size.

We drove home from Phoenix after the great feast to prepare the big celebration of Lily’s first birthday! Yes she is already one, my how time flies!!! Saturday at noon more family and friends gathered in Sarah and Jeff’s backyard for a fun filled day of a cupcake-themed birthday party. On November 25th of last year I remember Anthony and I wondering how we were going to survive that first night with a tiny crying newborn baby and now a year has passed filling our lives with more joy then we could ever imagine. Often one of us will say how much we wish that newborn didn’t have to grow up. But she is a beautiful, smart, funny, toddling one year old and we are so proud of her.

That wraps up our major events in the past few months, besides the very special Christmas we just enjoyed with our immediate family. Hope everyone had a blessed holiday and has a spectacular new year.

Another great photo shoot by Uncle Jeff Mangum! Thanks!

Finally Fall!

Although the weather is not drastically changing like we wish it would fall is finally here!
Recently Uncle Jeff did a fall photo shoot of Lily and I wanted to show off the adorable photos he took! Lily is now 10 months old and I’m not sure that it was her age that made the photo shoot easy or the fact that she has been a part of photo shoots since she was born but what ever the case Uncle Jeff and I were quite proud of how well she did at smiling and sitting still for every shot, and she only ate a little straw from the bale.
As we start a new season we start a new chapter in our lives. We are proud to announce we are expecting another baby! Baby Salari #2 is due in May of next year. Anthony and I had a little bit of a hard time believing we were going to be parents to another child besides Lily the one and only, but as time has passed and morning sickness has graced us we are truly excited to expand our family.

The simple things in life…

These are just a few photos I wanted to share of Lily getting a bath in the kitchen sink at my parent’s house. It makes me feel like crying when I see how much they love her, and how the simple things they get to do with her make them so happy. What a wonderful gift she has to have such special grandparents. Also I have been trying to get a good shot of her little teeth to post on here for all of you to see and finally I think I got one.

TEETH!!

Big updates for little Lily!

Lily turned 8 months in July and had some major milestones. She started to crawl finally! With crawling came standing alone with the support of the couch or what ever she can get a grip on. In that same month she got two teeth that are the cutest little teeth you have ever seen. She has also started her own vocabulary, maaaama, ma, bab(that’s dad), da dada (on a rare occasion), pop pop pop, bob bob, and a whole lot of aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh ahhhhhh aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh. I’m not even sure what her first word was because it seemed like she said all of that in one day and has been talking ever since. Our journey as parent has been amazing so far. With every stage we feel more blessed and proud of our little miracle.

These are a few photos of Lily playing with the water hose.

All the world's a stage

Since Sarah and I were little girls my mom always believed it was important for us to be well educated in the art of theater, so we always attended the Utah Shakespeare Festival which is held in Cedar City Utah . Over the years we have learned to love it and have sort of made it a tradition to take a trip to Cedar City in the summer. We have missed a few summers in the past so we thought it was time to go back. Since the weather is blazing in Arizona it was a wonderful time for getaway especially to Utah .

We drove up on Friday just in time for my mom and Anthony to catch the evening performance of As You Like It. The following day we toured the beautiful town of Cedar and between all 5 of us taking turns watching Lily we were able to see 3 plays. The plays included Private Lives, Foxfire, and Biloxi Blues. Lily was able to attend the Green Show which takes place every evening in a park like area on the campus of SUU. She had so much fun watching the dancers, singers, and jesters perform. She even got to taste her first English tart! It was so neat so see my own daughter enjoying something that I enjoyed so much as a child and still do.

Sunday morning was Sarah’s 27th birthday! On our drive back home we took a detour and went to Zion National Park . On the way in to the park we found a cute little apple orchard so we stopped and took a bunch of pictures. After a short morning of sightseeing in the beautiful park we headed home.

Happy Birthday America

This 4th of July was full of family and friends. We were lucky enough to share the booming holiday with Uncle Louis and Aunt Linda from Phoenix and Alex, Autumn and their kids from Yuma.
On Friday night Sarah held a BBQ at her house to start the weekend off. During the day on the 4th we went to our good friends the Johnsons for a pool party. In the evening we went to the lot where the fire works are set off and had VIP seating right under the big show. We get so lucky that mom is the coordinator of the fireworks show for Laughlin so we get to be up close to the action. I figured Lily might be frightened of the loud booms since we are so close but she actually really liked it. We are looking forward to next year and are counting our blessing for being able to live in this amazing country.

Happy Fathers Day!

On fathers day we went to church and had a lovely breakfast in the morning. For the afternoon Anthony thought it would be fun if we bought Lily a baby pool so she could play in the water. Well as we are standing in the isle at Target trying to decide which pool would be best, Anthony decides it would be great fun if he could join her so he picked the box that had a picture of a dad and a little kid in the pool together and that was the one we bought. After setting it up he and Lily spent 2 hours in a tiny blow up pool (it was so cute!) They really had a good time and as you will see Tootsie got a little jealous and joined in. Anthony is such a wonderful father he is truly dedicated to our family. I am so thankful for him!
