This is truly 'The most wonderful time of the year!’

The scents and sounds of the season fill our home but what really tells me Christmas is here is look on my little girls face. She is filled with excitement, wonder and joy. Her eyes sparkle every time she sees a Christmas tree or hears a holiday song. This year’s trip to see Santa is a memory that will forever be in my heart. We drove to Las Vegas early in the morning and arrived to the mall just as it was opening. By some miracle we were the first family in line to see Santa, the crew was setting up but Santa had not arrived yet. He was still feeding his reindeer. As we stood in line Lily took in all holiday sights surrounding Santa’s display. Many times she asked “what’s that?” as the crew set up the camera, cash box, and basket of Candy canes. She always has been quite nosey; she gets it from her Auntie Sarah. About five minutes had passed and the line of children and parents was growing. All of a sudden a big hand wearing crisp white glove lands on Lily’s shoulder, she gazed from his shiny black boots to his bright blue eyes then looks at me with a beaming smile and said “he is here!!!!!!!!!” Her eyes were as big a saucers as he says “you look pretty today” and then sat down in his big chair. Her smiled did not leave her face until I picked her up to set her on his lap……like a flash of lightning the 2 year old came out in her and she took off running to her dad. So after a magical moment we only ended up with a picture of Colin looking like a dear in head lights sitting on Santa’s lap. As a parent I had no expectations, so the experience was so much fun to see the my two year old daughter realizing the magic of Santa and being just a bit too scared at the same time.

We try and go to church every Sunday so it seems to me Lily understands the true meaning of Christmas as well as the details of Santa. My mom has a “Church” Christmas party with a live nativity including Sunday school kids playing Mary, Joseph and the wise men. She has a very realistic manger scene with a real donkey, sheep and a horse. A passage is read out of the bible and anyone who is attending the program is encouraged to sing ‘Away in a manger’ and ‘Silent Night’. Lily knows every word to ‘Away in a manger’ and was thrilled to be singing aloud at the end of the song she turns to me and pointed to the starry sky and says “ he’s up there mom” it brought tears to my eyes. She is truly a child of God. The program ended with a hayride and Christmas caroling. When everyone had gone home Lily pointed to the horse corrals where the Nativity scene had been and says “Hey where’s baby Jesus?”

I am so proud to announce my sister and Jeff have been blessed with a little miracle of their own. They are expecting their first child in July. I am over the moon about being an auntie but more than that I am thrilled my sister will get to experience the immense joy of being a parent!! Speaking of blessing Anthony and Jeff have recently been accepted into the Bullhead City Fire Academy. I am beaming with pride for my husband because he has worked so hard to be accepted. His long hours at the gym and nights of studying have paid off, he is great man!

Christmas is an important time to be thankful for the birth of Jesus, becasue of him our lives are filled with these joys. My husband and children are my blessings from above! May your holiday be as blessed as ours.

The holidays are here!

This weekend is Halloween which means the year is almost over and it’s time for all of the fun holidays! I’m so excited for this year’s holidays because it is the first year Lily is old enough to somewhat understand what’s actually going on. So far the weeks leading up to Halloween have been a blast for Lily. We were the first house on the block to decorate with orange pumpkin lights and gravestones in our front yard, at first she was just thrilled with the idea of decorating especially the part where we got to climb the ladder to hang the lights. But then when our neighbors started to put large glowing blow up Halloween figures in their yards she started to get the idea that pumpkins and black cats represent Halloween. Every morning when we leave for the day and the glowing blow up figures have been unplugged and are laying down on the ground she says to me “oh they blew it out” claps and says “Happy Halloween”. Auntie Sarah an Uncle Jeff were a little late getting there decorations up compared to our block but thankfully they finally did and invited us over one evening to see. Sarah told Lily on the phone “ok auntie and uncle have spooooky decorations please come see” so now when Lily sees any decorations she says “ooooooh stoooky”. Now picking a costume was just as exciting, we received a Pottery Barn Kids catalog in the mail about a month ago and it was full of costumes and nearly every day Lily would look at every page. After days of looking she had finally decided she wanted to be an airplane then a doughnut, then a hotdog, and a pumpkin, a cat and an owl. So after I looked at the pricing and realized I could not afford one of the costumes let alone 6 we went to the Halloween super store in town and looked. Of course the very best Auntie Sarah and Uncle Jeff came along to help pick it out and paid for it too!! There were so many to choose from the first choice was Mickey Mouse but it didn’t come in her size and she actually doesn’t know who he is, in the end she choose the one thing she really knows about CANDY! She is going to be a Candy Corn, and I must say the cutest candy corn I have ever seen. Although she wanted to pick a costume for her brother such as a cowgirl, we just settled with the traditional pumpkin costume for him. The other really great thing about the holidays are the gifts, we have been so blessed with generous family. About two weeks ago the kids got a package from my Aunt Linda with adorable Halloween socks, we really love them because they are perfect to wear with cowboy boots. Tonight we received a goodie box in the mail from DeDe and John Mangum, wow was is wonderful! The box was full of so much fun Halloween stuff from window stickers to a pumpkin flashlight and everything in-between. DeDe and John own a beautiful dog named Abbey, Lily LOVES her. So when we got the package she said to me “mom Abbey likes Halloween?”
Thank you all for being so kind to our kids you have really made our holiday special!
Since my last post Lily has been quite successful with her potty training. Colin is going to turn six chubby months in the next week. He amazes me daily with his development, he can fully roll over front to back and sit on his own though he still falls over occasionally. His hands are working so well, he loves toys and pull and plays with anything in reach. As you have seen in past photos he is still so smiley. Our trip to Sedona was fantastic we didn’t take many photos since it was just the two of us but it was a much needed get away. We really had a nice time.

Hope everyone has a SPOOKY Halloween and I will be posting trick-or-treat photos as soon as I can.

POTTY TIME!!!!!!! (Yep I’m yelling)

Most of this summer Lily has been naked, she spends a large portion of the day playing with the water hose or in a baby pool. Of course in the early part of summer I would try and put a swimsuit on her every time but that was short lived since I never seemed to be quick enough and she would already be soaking wet by the time I got the swimsuit out. Anyway yesterday she was running around our living room naked and I could see her kind of doing a little pee dance, so I said “Lily do you need to pee pee? If so we need to put a diaper on or go to the potty chair” (we bought the potty chair months ago hoping she would be ready but she was not at all interested in using it for a potty, maybe playing with it or filling it with crackers. But no way was she going to pee in it.) Well the light bulb went off and she ran straight to the potty and went PEE!! I was in total shock, then she asked for “Aunties panties” (we also bought panties to entice her to get out of diapers but all she would say is “like aunties panties”) so we put the little panties on her and we are now off to the world of potty training. She has peed three times in the potty and we are so excited and proud of her! It’s amazing how a little pee in the potty can be such a huge reward as a parent!

Colin turned 4 months! With the doctors approval he has started to eat rice cereal and puréed vegetables. Of course he loves it, it is always a fun milestone when babies start eating real food. He now weighs 16 pounds and is perfectly healthy. God has blessed us with two amazing, healthy children and we are so thankful. I am including Colin’s 4 month photos by Uncle Jeff and Lily’s proud pee pee moment!

Showing off her pee and her lolliepop reward!

One more hour in the day.....

Only if I had one more hour in the day and just a little more energy I would keep this blog up to date. But I wouldn’t trade anything for my long days filled with caring for my children. So since I found the time I am updating everyone on our past few months of June, July and August.

June was spent adjusting our life to having a needy newborn in the house and a jealous jumping toddler. Though it was kind of a blur the days consisted of hours of snuggles, lots of tears and plenty of laughs. The nights were sleepless but worth every second of bonding to our new blessing.

July 4th was a fantastic holiday with family and friends. It was quite traditional with cousin Alex and his family joining us along with the Wellton Morgas. We spent two days at the Johnsons house by the pool. My mom put on another amazing firework show and we once again got front row seats behind the pyrotechnics.

The next weekend the Salaris, Morgas, and Magnums headed to Montana to visit Aunt Lillie and Uncle Buck. I was sure excited this would be Lily’s second time to Montana and Colin’s first. The plane ride was uneventful which a relief to all of us was since Lily has hit the terrible twos early. The weather was perfect and the scenery was exquisite. We had a wonderful time catching up with Lillie and Buck, did a little fishing, went to a youth rodeo, and of course we went to the pig races. Aunt Lil spoiled us with many homemade meals and we all were so great full for her hard work in the kitchen even if we did gain a pants size. It was a short trip but truly an amazing time.

August has had no major events besides that I started to plan Lily’s second birthday party. I’m planning a Barnyard theme with a petting zoo! She loves all the animals at my mom’s house, so I know she will really enjoy herself. I have also taken on the task of throwing a baby shower for my friend Erin and I’m really excited about that! It is a true passion of mine to plan parties; I have always been in love with the little details that make every occasion memorable. So let the party planning begin!

September is Anthony and my 3rd anniversary and we are planning to go to Sedona for a weekend. It will be our first time away from Colin so I’m a little nervous about that. But we are really looking forward to a few day dedicated to just us. I will be sure to post after our adventure. As for now we will continue to TRY to keep cool and enjoy life’s blessings.

I can't even remember what life was like before he was born......

We welcomed Colin Seamus Salari to our family on May 5. The sweet smell of baby now fills our house and the sound of two giggling children fill the rooms. We are overwhelmed with exhaustion but exploding with joy because of him. He weighed in at 7 lbs 5oz and was 21 inches long. The labor was short but quiet painful. We went to the hospital at 6 am and he arrived at 1:14 in the afternoon. Lily was thrilled when we brought him home; it was like we brought her a gift. The moment we walked through the door she said “Bro!!” so from then on he has been called “Bro” or “little bro”. She has been a little upset at Anthony and I for breaking up the three musketeers but only seems to be mad directly at us. She holds nothing against him and seems quite pleased to have him around. I’m sure the slip of a pink cowboy boot hitting his head was a pure accident.

If one feels the need of something grand, something infinite, something that makes one feel aware of God, one need not go far to find it. I think that I see something deeper, more infinite, more eternal than the ocean in the expression of the eyes of a little baby when it wakes in the morning and coos or laughs because it sees the sun shining on its cradle. -Vincent Van Gogh

already March.....

So as you can see from my last blog I did not keep my resolution of updating my blog once a month like I had hoped in this new year, its now March and time for an update. January zoomed by with no real excitement so I will skip into February. We started the month by moving in to our new house! We spent the last few weeks in January painting every room and doing a little updating. After a ton of help from my dad and the salari/morga moving crew we are all settled in and LOVING it. We truly feel so blessed to have such a nice place to call our home.

For Valentines day or should I say week my wonderful husband truly spoiled me. From Wednesday to Sunday(valentines day) I received one gift a day at my front door, first was a tower of treats from Harry and David, next came a note telling me I had an appointment for a prenatal massage-pedicure-manicure and facial, then on Friday I received a dozen roses and Saturday I spent the day at the spa and Sunday was a wonderful Family day to wrap up my week. He is an amazing husband, Thank you honey so much for always being so romantic!

Baby Salari #2 is growing fast and healthy. I hope Anthony will make a final decision on a name real soon because I feel kind of bad just calling him “little brother”. The names are narrowed down to Colin Seamus Salari, Gavin Seamus Salari or Westin Seamus Salari. As you can see the middle name is Seamus, which is after Anthony’s father who passed away a few years ago. I’m rooting for Colin and think I might get my wish ;)

As for Little Miss Lily she is truly blooming! Every morning after Anthony leaves for work she and I go to my moms house to help feed the horses and chickens. It is very important to Lily to get to spend time with my mom and the animals. My mom and Lil have created a routine of feeding the “hooses” and “ickens” then looking for all of the fresh eggs, usually only one or two is found (which can take 45 minutes because it is such a big job for a one year old) once they come back in the house they are both so hungry from all that farm work, so they scramble some of the eggs they have found and have breakfast! (and yes my mom allows Lily to mix the eggs so they usually lose half their meal on the floor) This little routine of theirs is truly adorable to watch, I often sit inside and watch out the window and feel overwhelmed with joy that my daughter has this opportunity to make memories with her grandmother and that she is surround with such amazing family that would take the time to spend every morning with her.

To start the month of March off I joined a moms group called MOPS (Mothers Of Pre Schoolers) My friend Erin who has a little girl that is just about Lily’s age recommended it to me and I enjoyed it so much. The group meets at a church twice a month for a 2 hour meeting. It is just so nice to spend a little time chatting with other Christen mothers who are just learning the ropes of motherhood.

We have a busy few months ahead so I will have a lot of news next time I blog, hopefully it will be before we have our new “little brother.”
